A common question we’re always getting in our DMs is whether Pit Liquor is an antiperspirant; when we say no, some folks become doubtful about whether Pit Liquor can get the job done for them.

We get it, some people sweat more than others and as second nature, we do all we can to mask it. Maybe you wish you could skip the sweat all together, but the truth is, sweating is a sign that your body is thriving. You shouldn’t fear it!

In light of letting our bodily functions happen the way they’re meant to, it isn’t Pit Liquor’s overall goal to prevent sweating. Letting what’s natural be natural is first priority to us and one of many reasons why we know we weren't meant for the antiperspirant club.

With that being said, let’s start with the basics: breaking down the difference between antiperspirants and deodorants. We’ll also cover why you should ditch your antiperspirant—the facts may surprise you. Let's dive in.

Let’s Get this Settled: Antiperspirants vs. Deodorants

Antiperspirants are designed to keep our bodies from sweating, doing so by blocking the sweat glands with aluminum (eye roll). You may be thinking, no sweating? Sounds nice. But this comes with some pretty gnarly tradeoffs and potential risk factors.

Deodorants, just like the name entails, simply protect and mask against odor.

The two do have some things in common: they both offer a way to smell good, and often contain toxic ingredients. However, it’s important to note that not all deodorants are antiperspirants.

The Issue With Antiperspirants…

As mentioned, we’re passionate about letting our bodies function like they’re supposed to. Intentionally blocking a bodily process that does some amazing things  — release toxins, cools our body, hydrates skin naturally — just doesn’t sit right with us.

And let’s not forget what is used to block your sweat glands—there’s also aluminum in this equation. We’ve all heard the bad news when it comes to this neurotoxin in antiperspirants. And while some may argue there isn’t enough to make an impact on our bodies, we say that purposely putting a heavy metal on a part of our body (that literally absorbs substances into the bloodstream) that’s been shown to be linked to breast cancer, Alzeihmers, and dementia just isn’t worth it.

The Good News

It’s a wild thing to learn that your everyday body products can actually be doing you more harm than good, but when we know better, we can do better. That’s why we’re here for the deodorant revolution.

Lucky for you, the overproof whiskey and vodka in our formulas allow you to quench your stench in a safe, effective way. Plus, our blend of antimicrobial ingredients also help to keep your pits a bit drier, tackling some perspiration but not blocking any sweat glands whatsoever. You can find more on that o

So, finally ready to drop the antiperspirant? Pit Liquor’s got you.

And remember, let them see you sweat!
